The CORSAIR design…

Is unique and continues to only get better with the addition of new technological advancements. It is, without doubt, one of New Zealand’s most proven motor yacht designs – tested over the last three decades around the country’s rugged coastline in applications varying from customs and police patrol vessels to commercial fishing vessels.

Salthouse Next Generation Boats’ founder, Dean Salthouse, will be on hand to help you find the perfect boat. As a qualified boat builder who has been in the industry all his life, he has a wealth of knowledge to draw on.

Dean completed his boatbuilding apprenticeship as a marine cabinet maker and worked for 10 years at his father’s business, effectively learning the ropes from the ground up in many different capacities, before starting Salthouse Next Generation Boats in 2005.

Caring for your Sunbrella® fabrics

Salthouse 53

Worry free care for your Sunbrella® fabrics - so easy

One of the best ways to keep Sunbrella® fabrics looking good is to properly maintain the fabrics. This can be accomplished by simply brushing off dirt before it becomes embedded in the fabrics, wiping up spills or cleaning soon after a stain occurs. This helps aid in the complete removal of a stain. The longer spills and stains remain on the fabric, the more difficult they can be to remove.

Click here for the full Sunbrella® Cleaning & Care instructions

Re-treating the fabric for ease of cleaning

As part of the finishing process, Sunbrella fabrics are treated with a fluorocarbon finish, which enhances water repellency. This finish is designed to last for several years but must be replenished after a thorough cleaning. Based on test results, Glen Raven® recommends 303® Fabric GuardTM as the preferred re-treatment product for Sunbrella fabrics. Fabrics should be re-treated after thorough cleaning or as needed.

Salthouse Next Generation Boats’ founder, Dean Salthouse, has had a passion for professional sailing and boatbuilding all his life. He completed his boatbuilding apprenticeship as a marine cabinet maker and worked for 10 years at his father’s business, Salthouse Marine, effectively learning the ropes from the ground up in many different capacities.

Dean founded Salthouse Next Generation Boats in 2005 after he and his father Bob Salthouse spent over two years working together to successfully revamp the original CORSAIR vessel into a wider bodied Cabriolet-styled motor yacht. Father and son worked together in the shed rebuilding a classic – tweaking ever so slightly an already well tested and proven design.

Salthouse ICON 54

Salthouse ICON 54

In 2013 Dean purchased the very popular ICON flybridge motor yacht range from Formula Cruisers. The ICON’s combination of design, build quality and exceptional sea keeping performance are a great addition to the Salthouse CORSAIR sedan motor yacht range.

The ICON has been rebranded as the Salthouse ICON and will be built with the same proven methods and quality craftsmanship that has been the hallmark of both brands for many years. Dean plans to expand the ICON range to include sedan style cruisers up to 70ft. Which is about to be released - The Salthouse ICON 54S

Dean’s favourite saying is “Good things take time, great things take longer!” And the proof is in the satisfaction and enjoyment expressed by Salthouse Next Generation boat owners.

Scrumptious Scallop Salad

Ingredients:

10 to 12 large scallops

1 tablespoon butter

1 tablespoon olive oil

4 to 6 handfuls mixed salad greens

1 large avocado

Juice of 1/4 lemon

1 tomato or 8 cherry tomatoes

1/4 cup fresh blueberries

(optional)

Fresh mint leaves, to taste

Dressing:

4 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon white balsamic

vinegar

1 to 2 teaspoons brown mustard

Fresh ground pepper, to taste

Salt, to taste

Steps:

Heat the butter and olive oil in a sauté pan over medium-high heat. Place scallops facedown in butter/oil and sear for 3 to 4 minutes, or until browned. Flip and repeat on other side. (The oil may smoke a bit). Remove scallops from pan and cool. They should be room temperature for the salad. While scallops cool, prepare salad ingredients.

Place salad greens in a large bowl. Pit the avocado and cut into bite-size wedges. (Squeeze on a bit of fresh lemon juice to prevent browning). Slice tomato into wedges, or halve cherry tomatoes. Add to greens, along with blueberries (optional) and mint.

Prepare dressing: In a large measuring cup or small bowl, combine oil, vinegar, mustard, salt and pepper. Whisk until emulsified.

Add scallops to the salad and dress to taste. Reserve any extra dressing for future use. Toss and serve immediately. Serves two.
